ABOUT I-Model UN UPR
‘International Model UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review (I-Model UN UPR)’ offers an opportunity for students to have hands-on learning experience in UN human rights protection mechanism through the simulation of the UPR of the UN Human Rights Council. I-Model UN UPR, as the very first simulating the procedure of international human rights system, will become a pioneering initiative that can be expanded to other regions where the framework of this program is applicable.
Objectives of I-Model UN UPR
- To become responsible members of the international community through expanding the understanding of human rights situations from the perspectives of their representing country,
- To increase the awareness of human rights issues in the Republic of Korea, DPRK, China, and Japan and broaden the view of the world through the interactive discussion of current human rights challenges faced in each country,
- To understand the importance of the UPR process as an effective mechanism to strengthen the national human rights system,
- To develop academic and practical skills, such as research, public speaking, writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership through experiencing diplomatic languages and atmosphere.
